HOW TO MODEL | AGENCIES PART 1

Hello Wild Roses!

Me habéis preguntado muchos por mensajes directos en IG (e incluso por correo OMG) cómo empecé en una agencia y cómo podríais hacerlo vosotros. Así que de eso tratará el post de hoy, descubrir qué tipo de agente necesitas y cómo acercarte a ella.

En mi caso, la agencia con la que estoy ahora contactó conmigo. Me encontraron por IG y me hablaron por mail. Sin embargo, aunque eso sea lo que siempre se oye en plan "oh pues me descubrieron y así me hice modelo", la realidad no es así. Cuando he estado en anteriores agencias, he sido yo la que he dado el primer paso. Les envío un correo, voy en físico a su oficina a presentarme, les llamo por teléfono para saber más información, etc.

Aquí un par de puntos importantes a tener en cuenta antes de entrar a una agencia.

DEBES PROPONERTE A SER PROFESIONAL

Una agencia no va a estar interesada en alguien que no muestre un verdadero interés o una madurez mínima. Es cierto que los trabajos relacionados con la imagen suelen ser mucho más artísticos, ambiguos y abiertos, pero aún así, como en todo, hay que saber dónde están los extremos. No contestar cuando te proponen trabajos, hablar mal de la agencia a sus espaldas e incluso saltarte las normas del contrato pueden poner en peligro no solo tu acuerdo con esa agencia, sino que se enterarán otras agencias a las que podrías acercarte en un futuro.

¿QUÉ TIPO DE AGENCIA NECESITO?

Si quieres ser modelo de imagen y moda, no te vale de nada entrar a una agencia de promotores, ni al contrario. Debes saber qué es lo que estás buscando tú antes de entrar a una agencia, y también asegurarte de que vayas a poder ofrecerle a la agencia lo que necesita realmente. Por ejemplo, si quieres entrar al mundo de la moda, busca agencias que trabajen sobre todo con empresas que se dedican a publicar diseños tanto con publicidad como con desfiles. Si quieres ser actor/actriz, intenta más bien encontrar una agencia que tenga contactos con negocios de filmaciones.

Para saber un poco más sobre esto, es aconsejable que les preguntes qué necesitan, qué tipo de trabajos suelen hacer más y qué clientes tienen habitualmente. Con eso, entenderás de qué trata la agencia. 

¿AGENCIA INTERNACIONAL O AGENCIA LOCAL? 

Antes que nada, obviamente es el sueño de cada modelo ir a la agencia más famosa del país. Poder formar parte de ella te hará sentir increíble. Sin embargo, es importante saber que si vas a una agencia grande, probablemente tendrás que afrontar mucha competencia. Como se suele decir, es mejor empezar de manera local, y luego ir avanzando poco a poco.

LAS AGENCIAS EXCLUSIVAS

Hay muchas agencias que son conocidas por ser exclusivas. ¿Qué quiere decir esto? Que si formas parte de esa agencia, no puedes trabajar con ninguna más, ni puedes hacer ningún trabajo relacionado sin comunicárselo a tu agencia. ¿Ventajas? Las agencias siempre van a ser las que mejor sabrán qué necesitas, te van a apoyar y te van a ayudar a tomar decisiones que quizás tú solx no podrías hacer. ¿Desventajas? Debes rechazar todo lo que provenga de otra agencia y, si alguna vez te interesase un trabajo que tu agencia rechace, tendrás que aceptarlo.

Many of you asked me via direct messages on IG (and even on my mail OMG) how I got into an agency and how you could do it as well. So that's what I'll be talking about today, finding out what agency you need and how to get closer to them.

In my case, the agency I'm with contacted me. They found me on IG and started the conversation via mail. Nevertheless, although this is what people always hear "Oh they discovered me and now I'm a model", reality doesn't always have to be like that. The times I've been in other agencies before, it was me who made the first step. I send them mails, I go to their offices to present myself, I call them to get more information, etc.

Here I've got some tips to keep in mind before entering an agency.

YOU MUST COMMIT TO BEING PROFESSIONAL

An agency is not going to be interested in someone who doesn't show interest or a minimum maturity. It is true that jobs related to image and so are usually more artistic, ambigue and open, but still, like in everything, we must know the limits. Not answering when they propose new jobs, talking bad about the agency behind their backs and even skipping the rules of the contract could put in risk not only your agreement with the agency, but other agencies that you may contact with in the future will also find out.

WHAT TYPE OF AGENCY DO I NEED?

If you want to be an image model, it won't get you anywhere getting into a promoters agency, nor the opposite. You must know what you're looking for before entering an agency, and also make sure that you can offer the agency what it really needs. For example, if you want to enter the fashion world, search for agencies that work with design companies who make catalogue publicity and fashion shows. If you want to be an actor/actress, try finding an agency that has contacts with filming companies.

To know a little more about this, it's good to ask them what they need, what kind of jobs they do more often and what type of clients they usually have. With that, you'll understand completely what the agency is about.

INTERNATIONAL AGENCY OR LOCAL AGENCY? 

Before starting, it's obviously every model's dream to be in the most famous agency of the country. Being a part of it will make you feel incredible. However, it's important to know that if the agency is big, you'll probably have a whole lot of competence in there. Like they usually say, better start of local, and then go global.

EXCLUSIVE AGENCIES

Many agencies are known for being exclusive. What does this mean? That if you're a part of that agency, you can't work with any other one, nor do any related jobs without communicating it to your agency. Advantages? Agencies will always know better what you really need, they'll support you and help you take decisions that may be very hard to take on your own. Disadvantages? You must reject everything that comes from other agencies, no matter how cool the offers are and, if your agency rejects a work from a client, you must accept that.

Smoothies à la Limey

¡Hello wild roses!

No se me ocurría muy bien qué subir esta semana así que pensé subir un post sobre mis zumitos mañaneros. Son "smoothies" altos en vitaminas, fibras, azúcares (de los sanos) y energía. Mi rutina por la mañana suele ser la siguiente: levantarme, hacerme un zumo, hacer media hora de ejercicio, desayunar. Por esta razón, no importa mucho que esté bebiendo tantos azúcares, pues voy a quemarlos todos!

Para mí, todos mis zumos necesitan una base líquida, una fruta/verdura cremosa, sabores y extras.

Las bases líquidas pueden ser:

- Agua

- Zumo de naranja

- Leche (vegetal)

Las cremositas que yo utilizo son:

- Plátano

- Aguacate

- Papaya

Y luego de sabores, pues las frutas o verduras que encuentres en casa. Los extras suelen ser miel, semillas, crema de cacahuete, jengibre, menta, etc.

¡Ah! Y a la batidora le añado hielo siempre, para un sabor más fresco y aún más cremoso. :)

Os dejo dos ideas para hacer en casa, y a partir de ahí, lo dejáis fluir. ¡Buen provecho!

Opción 1:

En el primer smoothie, he añadido: naranja, plátano, peras, jengibre, espinacas, miel y semillas mixtas (del mercadona).

Las naranjas, en vez de exprimirlas, las corto en cuatro y las pelo encima de la batidora, así no solo aprovecho el jugo, sino también la fibra.

Lo mezclo todo y... listo!

Opción 2:

En el segundo smoothie, he mezclado: naranja, papaya, fresas, jengibre y miel.

Mismo proceso...

...sabores totalmente distintos!

¡Hello wild roses!

I didn't really know what to post this week so I thought about sharing my morning smoothies. They're high in vitamins, fibers, sugars (the good ones) and energy. My morning routine usually goes as follows: getting up, making myself a juice, doing half an hour of sports, have breakfast. For this reason, it's not really that much of a problem that I'm drinking so many sugars, I burn them all anyway!

For me, all juices need a liquid base, a creamy fruit/veggie, flavours and extras.

Liquid bases could be:

- Water

- Orange juice

- (Plant based) milk

The creamies that I use are:

- Banana

- Advocado 

- Papaya

And then the flavors, could be any fruits or veggies you have around home. My extras are usually honey, seeds, peanut butter, ginger, mint leaves, etc.

Oh! And I always add some ice to the blender, that way it get's a fresher and even more creamy taste. :)

I'll leave you a few ideas to try at home, from then on, improvising will be key. ¡Bon apetit!

Option 1:

In the first smoothie, I added: orange, banana, pear, ginger, spinach, honey and mixed seeds (from mercadona).

Instead of squeezing the oranges, I cut them in for and peel them on top of the blender, that way I don't only get the juice, but also the fiber.

I mix it all and... done!

Option 2:

In the second smoothie, I mixed: orange, papaya, strawberries, ginger and honey.

Same process...

...totally different flavors!

Debi Flue

One of the first bloggers I found and inspired me to start this journey. She travels with her partner Kev around the world, they share INCREDIBLE photos and, moreover, they are selling some amazing presets for Lightroom.
